A source inside the Cameroon Football Association revealed the difficulty of establishing the African Nations Cup scheduled for the beginning of next year.
“Until now, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has not spoken to us about the future of the tournament,” the source from the federation’s host nation, told FilGoal.com.
He added, “But we believe that the establishment of the championship on time is very difficult, there is no time to complete the qualifiers, even with the return of the leagues.”
“How will the local federations and FIFA coordinate on the dates of the international agenda? If we do not play the qualifiers in the month of September, it will be impossible to hold the championship in January,” he stressed.
The African teams played only two of the 6 qualifying rounds.
“We will work with the organizing committee, and with K, to define alternative plans. We have an idea to postpone the tournament 18 months to be held in the summer of 2022.”
“The president of the Cameroon Federation, Sido Ngoya, is constantly following the situation with K,” the CAF Champions League final is not clear, but we can say that it is one game that can be played at any time, unlike the qualifiers, which have 4 rounds left.
“We will see that if the matches are not back in September, the tournament will be postponed immediately,” he said.
On the other hand, Shiho Deco, a member of the Competitions Department, told FilGoal.com: “There is no clear decision yet regarding the tournament. In the coming period, we will determine the future of all tournaments in different categories.”

The next edition, established in Cameroon, is scheduled to start on January 9th, and end on February 6, 2021.
