As usual, at a time when establishments have to lower their iron curtain, the municipal police patrol the city center. That evening, Julien returns from a party with friends. He witnesses a scene of rare violence in Place Saint-Louis, which he films and publishes on his Twitter account. The video speaks for itself. We see a group of 30 to 40 people, some wearing clothes in the colors of their favorite club but not all, facing the vehicle while screaming. A policeman tries to speak with one of them. He hurried back to the police vehicle. To the cries are added the throwing of projectiles. “Chairs, glasses, bottles, objects found in garbage cans, they threw everything that came to hand,” recalls Julien. He moves away from the scene for fear of being hit by an object.
Faced with the number, the police fell back and went to park a little further away while the group of aggressive individuals dispersed. Later, a suspect, alone, is intercepted by the municipal crew, near Metz station.
According to our information, no injuries are to be deplored. Only the police vehicle is damaged at the level of the windshield and the bodywork.
Contacted, the City of Metz assures that it will make this file a priority as of Monday morning and will file a complaint, at the very least, for damage.
