Zelenska Inaugurates Monument to Children Who Died in War on International Day for Innocent Children

Zelenska inaugurates a monument to children who died in the war in Kharkiv

On the International Day of Innocent Children, Victims of Aggression, a monument was unveiled in Kharkiv in honor of Ukrainian children who died as a result of Russia’s armed aggression. This was announced by the wife of the Ukrainian president, Olena Zelenska, reports Ukrinform. “A boy and a girl fly over the explosion spreading their wings… Such a monument by sculptor Mykhailo Yatchenko to children who died as a result of Russia’s armed aggression now stands in Kharkiv. It is difficult to inaugurate monuments to the dead. Especially if these victims are children,” said the Ukrainian leader’s wife. “The children should have lived, just as the little inhabitants of houses destroyed by Russian missiles across the country had to live,” she added. “In the 21st century, in the middle of Europe, we are forced to worry about how to protect our children from physical extermination. But the world must realize, if it hasn’t realized yet, that a threat to our children is a threat to children in general. Childhood has no borders,” the first lady stressed. Every year on June 4, the International Day for Innocent Children Victims of Aggression, established by the United Nations General Assembly, is celebrated.
