Fatal accident in Langen: passenger dead, driver probably drunk

In Langen, a 20-year-old man with alcohol in his blood falls into the ditch of an S-Bahn line. His passenger was fatally injured in the accident.

Langen – Tragic accident early Sunday morning (December 4): A 21-year-old man died in an accident in Langen. He was traveling as a passenger with a 20-year-old man, in whom police found blood alcohol.

The two young men were around 5.10 in Liebigstrasse in Langen (district of Offenbach). The driver lost control of his vehicle – a Hyundai – and crossed the cycle path into the ditch of the S-Bahn line which runs parallel to Liebigstrasse. Images from the 5vision.media photo agency show an overturned concrete junction box, into which the Hyundai may have crashed. The front of the car was completely crushed.

The 21-year-old was fatally injured in the crash. Any help came too late, the firefighters only managed to get his body out of the car, as reported by the Offenbach police.

“The person who caused the accident came to the clinic as a precaution with minor injuries,” the South Hessian police report reads. The blood was brought there on the orders of the prosecutor’s office. Police did not say how much alcohol the driver had at the time of the crash.

The exact background of the incident is still unclear. An expert was called in to clarify the details and reconstruct the accident. The Langen fire brigade and the police were involved in the accident.

A 22-year-old from Langen was recently acquitted in court for drink driving. His brother undertakes the journey, but neither can prove the perpetrators. (pron)
