“It is not only my illness, but to bear their illness. I keep in pain every day, sometimes it doesn’t make me get out of bed at all, ”says Aidalí Torres Pérez, cancer patient, resident in Bello Antioquia.
The days during this quarantine become increasingly sad. This family removes two monsters: COVID-19 and the idea of losing their lives, fighting medullary thyroid cancer.
“I am the only one who works. Here at home I have to pay rent, services and there are days when I have to stop working to collaborate to get the medicines, ”says Jonathan Arias, Aidalí’s husband.
They have shared everything, including the pain and the scars, they have seen each other in the same hospital and they have always been smiling.
For four years that Aidalí discovered that he inherited this disease, his life has been a torment, his children suffer from the same diagnosis and they can only hope for a miracle.
“I prefer to go to have this disease taken away, the four of us to be together and have this taken away from us,” says Juan José Arias, son of Aidalí.
More than the American dream, traveling to the United States has become a life expectancy for this family and being able to receive treatment there on time.
