Jong-geun Wang and Mi-sook Kim were worried about their family history when they confessed that both of their parents suffered from dementia.

Wang Jong-geun and Kim Mi-sook appeared on MBN’s ‘Lim Seong-hoon’s Star Gene X-Files’, which aired on the 25th.

When Lim Seong-hoon asked about ‘health issues that I am always worried about,’ Kim Mi-sook said, “I have been worried about dementia since I lived with my mother who had dementia. I worry about it 24 hours a day. My father also had dementia. He passed away in a nursing hospital, and my mother died alone like my father. “I thought I couldn’t let it go. If I had been by my mom’s side, this situation wouldn’t have come to this, but I feel guilty that it’s because of me,” he confessed.

When Wang Jong-geun also revealed, “Both of my parents had dementia,” Dr. Park Joo-hong, an Oriental medicine doctor, said, “If both parents have dementia, the risk of developing dementia (for a child) is 17.4 times higher,” raising the couple’s concerns.

When he added, “Even if you have high blood pressure, hyperlipidemia, or diabetes, the incidence of dementia increases,” the couple could not keep quiet. This is because Wang Jong-geun has diabetes and Kim Mi-sook has hyperlipidemia.

On this day’s broadcast, Kim Mi-sook was depicted taking great care of her mother, who was suffering from dementia.

Wang Jong-geun felt sorry for his wife who was constantly taking care of her mother and doing housework. He massaged her shoulders, back, and waist and asked, “Are you planning on taking your mother to a nursing hospital?”

Kim Mi-sook expressed her steadfast will, saying, “I’m not having a hard time. If I had been in trouble and made things difficult, would my mother have abandoned me? Still, my mother would have always taken care of me.”

The couple, who were concerned about their family history, also tried to prevent dementia through diet and exercise. Kim Mi-sook also served radish, which is good for her blood vessel health, on her family’s dinner table.

Specialist Lee Eun-young said, “Radish contains a lot of vitamin P, which strengthens capillaries, and vitamin C, which acts as an antioxidant, so it can help prevent vascular dementia.”
