Researchers studied 255 babies born during the 2020 pandemic, of whom 45 percent were exposed to the coronavirus while in the womb.

Then, the researchers compared the child development scores among these babies with 62 other babies born before the COVID-19 pandemic.

The study found babies born during the 2020 pandemic had lower gross motor skills, fine motor skills, and problem solving scores compared to children born before the pandemic, regardless of whether they were exposed to the virus or not.
