Covid-19 has shackled the
world, but until now there is no sign of when the pandemic will end. This has led psychologists and psychiatrists in Dubai to believe there is a huge increase in mental
health problems amid the
Covid-19 outbreak and this will be homework.

In fact, they explain, the same problem also ‘infects’ children who have to study online and ‘away’ from classmates.
All of this they say leads to an increase in mental health problems.
“The number of mental health problems is increasing and is like a ‘forest fire’ (spreading fast). The overall uncertainty factor caused by the pandemic is the driving factor,” said dr. Arun Kumar K, psychiatrist, Aster Clinic, Bur Dubai & Aster Hospital, Qusais.
However, dr. Reena Thomas, clinical psychologist at the nearby Medeor Hospital, says a large number of the world’s population are facing new habits in almost all aspects of life.
He suggests remedial measures to address the impact on mental health.
Instead of ‘mourning’ for lost time, accept new statements and habits.
“This pandemic is an eye-opener for developing various skills and seeking opportunities for self-employment with limited investment.
