Auckland hosts the regular ExileCon, where Grinding Gear Games finally announced more detailed plans for Path of Exile 2. The beta will open in a year.

From July 29 to 30, the traditional ExileCon takes place, intended (not only) for fans of the popular action game Path of Exile. This year, the atmosphere is particularly tense, as the authors promise the expected second part. Despite the recent release of potential competition in the form of Blizzard’s legendary Diablo IV, the developers seemed relaxed and revealed a lot of interesting things on the first day that clearly indicate the direction PoE 2 will take.

Perhaps the most important announcement is that the sequel will not be slowly coming to the first part in the form of large patches, as originally planned. Instead, it will be released separately. During development, the game swelled so much that mere “patching” would not be effective enough. No wonder. The first shots from the playable demo clearly show how far Grinding Gear Games have taken their venture. But they add in one breath that no one has to worry about the collected cosmetic items and various awards. These will be automatically linked to new accounts. Regular players probably breathed a sigh of relief. While the original plan included moving all important improvements along with the patch, it was unclear if the same was true for the current change. But the studio assured everyone that none of it would be lost.
Beta opening date
Related to this is the release date that players are eagerly awaiting. If you yourself can’t wait any longer, you probably won’t be very pleased with the set date. It is tentatively estimated for July or August of next year, when the beta gates will open.
