The Executive decided yesterday to extend the state of national emergency until July 31, with a quarantine focused on seven regions and for children under 14 and people vulnerable to the spread of the coronavirus, due to the serious circumstances that affect the life of the nation.
According to Supreme Decree No. 116-2020-PCM, those under 14 years of age, as well as people in risk groups, such as adults over 65 and those with comorbidities, should continue quarantining.
The norm establishes the obligatory social isolation in the departments of Arequipa, Ica, Junín, Huánuco, San Martín, Madre de Dios and Áncash, in which the displacement of people is allowed only for the provision and access to services and essential goods, as well as for the services of the economic activities authorized at the entry into force of the aforementioned supreme decree.
During the validity of the state of national emergency, the compulsory social immobilization of all people in their homes is decreed from 10:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m. the following day, from Monday to Sunday nationwide. The regions of Arequipa, Ica, Junín, Huánuco, San Martín, Madre de Dios and Áncash are excepted, in which the compulsory social immobilization of people governs from 8:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m. following. Sunday will be all day.
Border closure
During the state of emergency, the continuation of the total closure of the borders is provided, for which reason the international transport of passengers by land, air, sea, and uvial means continues to be suspended, except for humanitarian reasons and in accordance with the regulations issued before the entry into force of the aforementioned supreme decree and under the sanitary conditions that must be observed by passengers who may exceptionally enter the national territory, such as compulsory social isolation and others provided by the health authority. These employers, civil and religious activities, as well as all kinds of meetings, social, political, cultural or other events that involve the concentration or agglomeration of people and that put health at risk public.
Other measures
Public Sector entities at any level of government carry out their activities gradually, for which they will adopt the appropriate measures.
Parades, patron festivals, civil and religious activities, as well as all kinds of gatherings, social, political, cultural or other events that put public health at risk, are suspended.
The Peruvian National Police, with the support of the Armed Forces, will verify compliance with the provisions of the aforementioned Supreme Decree, for which they can execute the corresponding interventions.
