Europeans should not be able to enter the US for a long time – but the G7 should take place
According to the White House, an end to the freeze on entry for foreigners from Europe to the USA is currently not in sight. “We don’t have a schedule yet,” White House spokeswoman Kayleigh McEnany said at a press conference on Wednesday (local time).
Apparently, the consideration of US President Donald Trump does not change anything about holding this year’s G7 summit as a real meeting and inviting the heads of state and government of the seven major industrialized nations to the USA. “We definitely hope this will happen,” said McEnany.
G7 despite entry ban?

It would be “perfectly appropriate” for the G7 summit to be held in the United States after all, even if travel restrictions still existed for ordinary people, McEnany said. «The President wants us to start reopening. Why does Trump want the summit to take place?
The G7 Summit was originally scheduled to take place in mid-June at the President’s country house in Camp David, not far from Washington. In March, the US government canceled the meeting of the heads of state and government of the seven major industrialized nations because of the coronavirus pandemic and held a video conference instead.
On Wednesday, Trump tweeted completely unexpectedly, as the country was recovering from the corona crisis, he was considering organizing the meeting on the originally planned date or on a “similar date”. That would be a great signal of normalization, he explained. The other countries have already started their comeback.
How do the G7 react?
The US President will host the G7 summit in 2020 and was thus able to choose the location. In addition to the USA, the “Group of Seven” includes Germany, France, Great Britain, Italy, Canada and Japan. Chancellor Angela Merkel left open whether she would accept Trump’s invitation to the United States in a few weeks.
Parisian Élysée Palace circles have said that French President Emmanuel Macron is willing to travel to Camp David if health conditions permit. Canada’s Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was also open to a discussion about a personal meeting in the United States.
