Food supply is safe, Bavaria loosens the closing time

No reason for buying hamsters, the supply situation is secure, the camps are full – politicians have been emphasizing this for days. In the short term, there can still be empty shelves in the supermarkets. In Bavaria, some shops can even extend their opening hours.

The Federal Government is taking extensive measures to combat the corona virus. A large part of the shops are to be closed, as well as playgrounds and sports facilities. Worship services would also be prohibited.

Band and countries want to limit the spread of the corona virus with drastic restrictions for tourism in Germany. In a decision of the Federal Government and the heads of state of the federal states of Monday, which was presented to the German Press Agency, it was stated that regulations had to be issued “that overnight accommodation offers in Germany can only be used for necessary and expressly not for tourist purposes”.

According to this, restaurants in Germany should close at 6 p.m. at the latest and open at 6 a.m. at the earliest.

The federal government is also proposing that the federal states close a large number of shops. Supermarkets and other shops that serve to supply people should remain open, however, as the German Press Agency learned on Monday after a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on the corona crisis from government circles. The “Bild” newspaper had first reported about it.

The federal government and the states also prohibit church services, meetings in clubs and bus trips until further notice. The decision of the Federal Government and the heads of government of the federal states on Monday states, among other things, under point three: “Meetings in churches, mosques, synagogues and the gatherings of other religious communities should be prohibited”.

No shutdown

Government officials said that supermarkets would of course remain open. It is just not a so-called “shutdown”, in which all stores would be closed.

The measures would, however, be similar to those from France, Austria and Spain, where many shops outside the grocery store and pharmacies are also closed.

In addition to public and private sports facilities, swimming pools, fun pools and fitness studios, playgrounds should also be closed to the public.

Banks and petrol stations remained open

According to information from the “Bild” newspaper, the cabinet committee has sent the federal states a new list of recommendations to reduce social contacts in the public sphere to a minimum.

Accordingly, retail businesses for food and feed, weekly markets, delivery services, pharmacies, medical supply stores, drug stores, petrol stations, banks and savings banks, post offices, laundromats and wholesalers should remain open.
