Europe does not buy gas for excess fuel: Ukraine proposes an unexpected solution

LNG tankers lined up around European ports with nowhere to unload the gas.

The price of gas in Europe in the last month has fallen 8 times in a context of low demand and a warm autumn. Speaking of which reported Deputy Minister for European Integration Yaroslav Demchenkov on his Facebook page.

According to him, Europe has filled almost 100% of its underground deposits with gas and, due to the warm climate, the demand for “blue fuel” is not yet increasing. Therefore, as Yaroslav Demchenkov notes, LNG tankers have lined up around European ports, which have nowhere to unload the gas.

“As a result, the price of gas in the EU in the last month has already fallen eight times and continues to decline,” said Yaroslav Demchenkov in a statement.

The official believes that demand for gas will continue to grow sooner or later. And then traders who can’t sell fuel now will do so in a few weeks and at a much higher cost.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Energy of Ukraine Herman Galushchenko proposed European partners for gas storage in Ukrainian gas storage facilities.

“We have an underground gas storage system, which is the most powerful in Europe and the third in the world, with a total volume of over 30 billion cubic meters. About half of it is used for Ukraine’s needs. So, we are ready to offer free gas storage capacity to foreign customers – up to 15 billion cubic meters, ”the official wrote on Twitter.

Recall, previously Focus wrote that Ukraine has begun to increase imports of natural gas from Europe, against the backdrop of lower prices for blue fuel. Then, from 15 to 16 October, the volume of deliveries increased to 9.4-9.5 million cubic meters. m, and October 17 – up 7.8 million cubic meters m.

It was also reported that the European Commission (EC) developed a plan to limit gas prices. It provides a mechanism for a “dynamic” ceiling on gas prices in the EU and mandatory limits on price fluctuations within one day.
