Erdogan confirmed to have deployed Turkish troops to Qatar

ANKARA – Presiden Recep Tayyip Erdogan confirm that the soldiers Turkey has indeed been deployed to Qatar. He claims the presence of his troops is to ensure stability in the Gulf state.

“No one can be disturbed by the presence of the Turkish military except those who want to spread chaos,” he added.

President Erdogan also confirmed the presence of his troops in Syria. According to him, Turkish troops will not stay in Syria forever and will end their presence there once a permanent solution to the crisis is found.

Turkey and Qatar have forged strong ties in recent years. The two countries are known to be supporters of the Muslim Brotherhood group, which Egypt declares a terrorist organization. Saudi Arabia doesn’t like the group either. (Also read: Erdogan says Jerusalem belongs to Turkey)

Qatar itself is still being blockaded by Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates on accusations of supporting a terrorist group. However, Doha has Iranian and Turkish support.
