End of duopoly: first PC with Intel graphics card to buy

Best Buy list machine equipped with Intel Iris Xe

For many years, our video card analysis section has been composed only of AMD e Nvidia, but that is about to change: the first computer equipped with video card Intel is already listed for sale. The machine is available for purchase at Best Buy, and list Intel Xe as dedicated graphics. This ad appears shortly after a representative of Intel itself claims that the Intel Xe cards “are right there”.

The CyberpowerPC computer comes equipped with “full hardware” Intel“, with processor the Core i5-11400f and the video card is Intel Xe Graphics with 4GB of dedicated LPDDR4X video memory. The ad no longer goes into the description of the GPU used. With 8GB of RAM, 500GB of SSD and, as a gamer, of course there is a cabinet with RGB LEDs. It comes at a cost of $ 750.

The expectation is that the model on this PC is the Intel Xe-LP with a total of 80 execution units, delivering a total of 640 shaders. This tells us that here we have a machine from the gamer entry segment, potentially delivering a good experience in more casual games in 1080p resolution.

With this sales announcement, it is clear that Intel should start with the integrator market, with OEMs building their machines with Intel hardware, before video cards that can be purchased separately appear. Despite being a modest start, it is a very relevant milestone in a market that has lived in a duopoly for decades, a situation that is no worse than a monopoly, but it is strictly the second worst possible situation for consumers.

Due to the specifications, this model may be an implementation of Intel DG1. According to Videocardz rumors, there would be more robust versions, the Intel DG2, with 256 EU and 384 EU, thus creating intermediate models within the line of video cards from Intel. The company’s cards would have up to 16GB of GDDR6 memory, and considering these performance estimates, it should bring Intel to the dispute in the gaming segment in 1080p and 1440p.

At the moment Intel Xe technology is only available on lighter and more compact devices, present in graphics integrated with the processor. We have already tested with Intel Xe on both the 11th generation Core desktop processors, codenamed Rocket Lake-S, and the notebook and ultrathin version, codenamed Tiger Lake. On desktop there are a maximum of 32 Execution Units, while the ultra-thin version reaches up to 96 Execution Units.
