Emergency orders Utrecht and Amersfoort, again due to unrest

Emergency orders were issued last night in several neighborhoods in Utrecht. The municipality says that a group of young people in the vicinity of Marnixlaan in the Zuilen district and in the Ondiep district has thrown fireworks and that an emergency order is therefore issued for the entire area. According to a police spokesperson, the Mobile Unit has also been deployed.

An emergency order also applies to the Hoograven district. According to the municipality of Utrecht, the police at Heemstedelaan were pelted with stones.

‘Great disorder’ in Amersfoort

Earlier yesterday evening, someone was arrested in Amersfoort after Mayor Bolsius had issued an emergency order due to “great disorder”. The municipality reports that fireworks were thrown near the statue of De Stier, just outside the center.

According to a spokesman, people were called on social media to riot. The young people who had come left when the police and riot police arrived.
