Baden-Württemberg wants to stick to alert level II

The limit values for overloading the clinics are currently not exceeded. Nevertheless, the Baden-Württemberg government wants to maintain the existing alert level. New quarantine rules also come into force.

At the first meeting of the green-black state government in the new year, the focus is on the corona pandemic and the concern about the omicron variant. Although the southwest started the new Corona year quite lightly, there is no all-clear. The number of Covid patients in intensive care units is currently falling, but it is still not being relaxed.

The green-black cabinet wants to decide on Tuesday in Stuttgart to adhere to alert level II with tougher restrictions, even if the limit values for the stress on the clinics are not currently exceeded. In contrast, the green-black state government is sticking to the exceptions for unvaccinated students. The 12 to 17 year olds can also use their student ID in February to go to a café, cinema or soccer training session as a test certificate.

Stuttgart: New quarantine rules will apply from Wednesday

There will also be new rules for the quarantine from Wednesday: It will be shortened for contact persons as well as the isolation of corona infected people. The background is the concern that otherwise public life will collapse if all possible employees have to stay at home because of Omikron.

In the cabinet meeting, Environment Minister Thekla Walker (Greens) and Agriculture Minister Peter Hauk (CDU) also want to report on the continuation of the special program to strengthen biological diversity.
