Elon Musk’s Solution to Combatting Bots on X: Pay to Use – Latest Updates

If it were up to Elon Musk, every user of X would soon pay a small amount of money. According to the billionaire, this is necessary to keep spam accounts off the social media platform.

Musk suggested his idea in conversation with Benjamin Netanyahu. The Israeli Prime Minister asked the businessman what X is doing against so-called bots that spread anti-Semitic messages. Musk responded that X is preparing for “a small monthly payment for usage.”

“It’s the only way I can think of to combat large armies of bots,” Musk said. “Creating a bot costs a fraction of a cent. But if everyone had to pay a small amount for an account, the costs for bots would become very high.”

“In addition, setting up the payment function is manual work. That probably also works against bots,” the businessman continued.

The conversation between Musk and Netanyahu took place after fierce criticism from an American organization that fights anti-Semitism. This Anti-Defamation League (ADL) states that extremist messages on X have increased since the takeover and mass layoffs last year.

According to Musk, the ADL’s claims are incorrect. According to the billionaire, with its statements the organization has driven many advertisers away from X, causing the social network to lose a lot of money.
