Bombardier posts loss of US $ 223 million

Canadian automaker Bombardier has reported a net loss of US $ 223 million in the second quarter of the current year as well as a 37% drop in revenue due to disruptions related to the Covid-19 pandemic.

In a statement released Thursday, the Canadian multinational notes that its revenues totaled US $ 2.7 billion in the second quarter, against US $ 4.3 billion during the same period last year.

These revenues reflect lower production and the number of deliveries during the quarter.

The aviation sector was particularly hard hit with a 42% drop in revenues. Only 20 planes were delivered during the second quarter, compared to 35 during the same period last year. In addition, parts manufacturing activities, notably for Airbus, saw their revenues plunge by 69%.

According to Bombardier, the pandemic has cut its free cash flow by $ 700 million to $ 900 million in the past three months.
