Elmhurst Hospital Receives $17.5 Million Investment for Surgery, MRI, and Pediatric Center Projects

Elmhurst hospital receives $17.5 million that will be used for various projects in surgery, the MRI area and the pediatric center. According to the hospital director, this investment will bring a lot of good to the community while patients say that this money is welcome.

With this applause, Elmhurst Hospital employees received the announcement of the investment of 17 and a half million dollars from Queens Councilman Shekar Krishman.

It is the second oldest hospital center in the city and serves one million patients each year.

Helen Arteaga-Landaverde, Director Elmhurst Hospital: “This is a very important and historic investment for our Elmhurst Hospital.”

The money will be used to create a new hand surgery center, renovate laboratories, relocate the intensive care area for babies and purchase new equipment.

“We are going to have the second MRI, which is super important because our emergency room is very full,” adds Arteaga-Landaverde.
Radiologists say the new MRI room will improve medical care in the emergency room.

“Our patients will be seen much faster and we will have advanced technology that will help us make a diagnosis faster,” said Grace-Ann Weick, deputy director of the hospital’s radiology department.

The facilities have 545 beds and in 2022 alone, more than 4,000 new New Yorkers were born here.
