Ellen Pompeo, star of Grey’s Anatomy, producing a new series for ABC. It will be an adaptation of Paradise, Elin Hilderbrand’s novel trilogy.
Pompeo’s new series will be called Winter In Paradise, the same name given to the first of Hilderbrand’s three books. Brothers Andre and Maria Jacquemetton will be responsible for adapting the scripts.
The Paradise triloga is made up of the books Winter in Paradise, What Happens in Paradise and Troubles in Paradise. The first book was published in 2018, and the most recent debut in October 2020. Hilderbrand’s novels in total have sold 10 million copies together.
The series centers on Irene Steele, a woman who lives happily married in a house in Iowa City. However, when her husband mysteriously dies, Irene learns that he has been living a secret double life with another family on the distant Caribbean island of St. John.
As the woman unravels a web of intrigue and deception, and as she and her children are drawn to the vibrant island culture, they must face the truth about their family and their future. Pompeo will be the executive producer of the show alongside Laura Holstein.
At the moment it is unknown who will be part of the main cast and who will direct the episodes of the series. Ellen Pompeo continues to record the new episodes of Grey’s Anatomy season 17, which are also broadcast on ABC.
