The first racket of Ukraine Elina Svitolina (WTA 25) reached the semi-finals of the WTA 250 series hard tournament in Auckland (New Zealand).
In the quarterfinals, the Ukrainian defeated the 36th racket of the world in two sets Maria Bouzkova (Czech Republic).

Svitolina won the first game in just 25 minutes, giving away only 8 points.
In the second set, Elina lost 1:3, but managed to win 5 games in a row and closed out the Czech team.
This was the fourth meeting between the tennis players. Elina won the 3rd head-to-head match.
In the semi-finals of the tournament in Auckland, Svitolina will play against Wang Xiyu (China, WTA 71).
For the Ukrainian, this is the 3rd victory in the competition. Elina previously beat Caroline Wozniacki and Emma Raducanu.
