Eleven Female Janitors in Kerala, India Win Billions in Lottery

Kuala Lumpur

Eleven female janitors at Kerala India joint to buy lottery. They actually won! The money is billions if converted.

Reported by the BBC, Saturday (5/8/2023), the 11 women were part of the cleaning staff who collected non-degradable waste from houses in the town of Parappanangadi in Malappuram District, Kerala State.

At first, last June, they jointly bought a lottery ticket worth 250 rupees or around IDR 45,967. This is a special rainy season edition lottery ticket, usually issued for special occasions such as festivals.

Apart from not being able to buy lottery tickets individually, Kerala also does not legalize buying lottery tickets individually. Lottery is okay as long as you buy it together.

Kuttimalu, 72, admitted that at first he was sad when Radha collected money because at that time she did not have enough money.

“Cherumannil Baby (another member of the group) then told me he had 25 Rupees and was willing to lend me half for a ticket,” he told the BBC.

The two women shared 12.5 rupees each for their share of tickets, while the other nine women paid 25 rupees each.
