Education – Hannover – Land starts school holidays earlier before Christmas – Education

Berlin / Hanover (dpa / lni) – The Christmas holidays in Lower Saxony are being extended, according to the State Chancellery. The start is now a few days earlier than previously planned. A spokeswoman for Prime Minister Stephan Weil (SPD) said on Tuesday. The last day of school before the holidays should be Friday, December 18th. So far, December 22 was planned as the last day of school.

Previously, during their talks on the Corona rules, the prime ministers had agreed to extend the vacation – with the exception of Bremen, there was agreement, according to the Stuttgart State Chancellery. According to the current status, the school in Lower Saxony should start again on January 11th in the new year. Lower Saxony’s Minister of Education, Grant Hendrik Tonne (SPD), had recently refused to start earlier.

One day before the deliberations between the federal states and Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel (CDU), information from the German Press Agency from negotiating circles in the government headquarters is thinking about starting the vacation even earlier than suggested by the federal states. Merkel could therefore imagine that they will start as early as December 16.
