Education – Erfurt – Parents of untested students face a fine – Education

Erfurt (dpa / th) – In the corona pandemic, Thuringian parents whose children go to school untested can in future be fined between 60 and 250 euros. This does not apply to parents of vaccinated or recovered children and adolescents, as Minister of Education Helmut Holter (Linke) announced on Wednesday in Erfurt. It is therefore planned that the offense will be classified as an administrative offense.

After the 14-day test phase, which Holter describes as a safety buffer, this test obligation should only exist in the highest Corona warning level 3 in the Free State. In addition to the seven-day incidence, the occupancy of intensive care beds in hospitals is decisive for reaching a warning level in Thuringia. School starts in the Free State on Monday.

Holter said the fine should be staggered for parents who refused to have their children tested. Accordingly, higher penalties are to be imposed for repeated offenses. The details are still being worked on.
