[Economie] Illegal work: artisans ask the prefect for solutions

At the headquarters of the Chamber of Trades and Crafts (CMA), a large meeting took place this morning in the presence of professional organizations from the craft sector (hairdressing, photography, florist, etc.) on the issue of work. illegal too often practiced in these professions. “We have been approached by these unions who respect the rules, pay their charges and have people in front of them who do not,” explains Bernard Picardo, president of the consular chamber. All the professional unions were able to present their grievances to a prefect who was very “attentive” according to the president of the CMA.

Charter between artisans and the State

A morning of work which ended with commitments from the State, according to the Consular Chamber. It must be said that the prefect had brought in representatives of the DIECCTE and the SGAR (regional affairs secretariat of the prefecture). Several measures have been adopted:

  • A charter signed by all the professional craftsmen in order to set up a plan to combat illegal work,

  • Communication work by the CMA on this subject in order to alert individuals to the risks of trusting undeclared professionals,

  • A regular update on the situation of craft professionals during the CODAF (departmental anti-fraud operational committee)

“It should be remembered that moonlighting hurts businesses and artisans,” concludes Bernard Picardo. Regular updates on this subject should be made. As a reminder, last year 352 interventions were carried out in the context of the fight against illegal work. They led to the drafting of 23 reports sent to the legal services concerned.
