Dutch shoe chain vanHaren takes part of Brantano …

As of 1 October, the Dutch shoe chain vanHaren will take over 43 Brantano stores in Belgium. “With this, VanHaren is taking an important step in its ambitions on the Belgian market”, it says in a press release. “After opening sixteen stores in the past three years, this is a great leap forward in the expansion of the store network in Belgium.”

The Dutch shoe retail chain vanHaren Schoenen, part of the German group Deichmann, will take over 43 Brantano stores in Belgium from 1 October. The receivers of the bankrupt fashion concern FNG report this on Monday.

The agreement that the trustees concluded with vanHaren Schoenen on Monday includes that the bankruptcy trustees can continue to organize the sale of stocks in the acquired stores until the end of September.

According to the bankruptcy trustees, “further communication by vanHaren Schoenen will be carried out shortly” about the further modalities and the concrete implementation of the acquisition.

The Dutch company opened sixteen branches on the Belgian market in recent years. It is currently unclear how many Brantano employees can continue to work after the takeover.

VanHaren has been a major player in the shoe industry in the Netherlands for 90 years and is active on the Dutch market with 143 stores. “The whole family can go here for shoes with an excellent price / quality ratio. Right away on-trend own collection, the sale of well-known sports brands and a high service level is what really distinguishes vanHaren. With the takeover of the 40 Brantano stores, this success formula will be further expanded in Belgium ”, the press release states.

The details of the acquisition will be fleshed out in the coming days and weeks.
