Bola.net – Donny van de Beek was predicted to be a midfielder when his name exploded in 2017/2018. In fact, the name of the Dutch player was included in the nominations for the 2019 Ballon d’Or title.
Van de Beek started his career from the youth team ajax Amsterdam. He comes from the same place as Frenkie de Jong and Matthijs de Ligt. They were born from the same generation. And, all of them have left Ajax.
Van de Beek left Ajax in the 2020/2021 season, later than his two colleagues. Van de Beek’s selling price is also cheaper. He moved to Manchester United for 40 million euros.

Van de Beek was promoted to the Ajax first team in the 2014/2015 season, but has yet to get a chance to play. But, in 2017/2018, Van de Beek has become an irreplaceable player in the Ajax starting XI.
In the 2017/2018 season, Van de Beek scored 11 goals for Ajax in the Eredivisie. Since then, he began to be the attention of many clubs. The following season, Van de Beek scored four goals and took Ajax to the semifinals of the Champions League.
Ajax’s steps towards the final ran aground in the hands of Tottenham through a dramatic match at the Johan Cruijff Arena. But, that beautiful moment took Van de Beek and his two colleagues to the pinnacle of fame. They were nominated for the Ballon d’Or.
Van de Beek then did fail in the Ballon d’Or competition. He got no points and was in 28th place. This is not a failure for a player who is just 20 years old. This is a great accomplishment!

After a wonderful season, Van de Beek had plenty to offer at the start of the 2019/2020 season. However, because De Ligt and De Jong first moved, Ajax were reluctant to let Van de Beek go. In fact, he had offers from Real Madrid and Manchester United.
Van de Beek only moved at the start of the 2020/2021 season. The player who is now 24 years old has reached an agreement with United. He got a lot of advice from his father-in-law, Dennis Bergkamp, an Arsenal legend.
“I also talk a lot with Edwin [Van der Sar], my former director and Daley Blind, my former team-mate. I can’t wait to play for this club now,” said Van de Beek.
There was great optimism in the early days of Van de Beek’s arrival to Old Trafford. He is pretty sure he can play alongside Paul Pogba and Bruno Fernandes in midfield.

However, the overseas lands were not friendly to Van de Beek. He has not been able to compete with the success story of his father-in-law Bergkamp. Van de Beek’s career at United is also still far from Van de Saar or even Daley Blind.
In his first season, Van de Beek only played three full Premier League matches. He scored only one goal. The first season passed and there were many doubts about Van de Beek’s future.
In the 2021/2022 season, there are changes in United’s body. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who did not give Van de Beek a chance to play, was sacked. However, in the Ralf Rangnick era, Van de Beek also never got a place in United’s first team.

Van de Beek tried to move from United at the start of the 2021/2022 season. He had offers from Everton and several other clubs. However, Solskjaer intervened and made the Van de Beek transfer saga to Everton a complete failure.
Now, in the January 2022 transfer window, Van de Beek has the opportunity to move again. Fabrizio Romano reports that Crystal Palace are very serious about getting Van de Beek’s services.
United had refused to release Van de Beek. But now it’s starting to soften. “Manchester United want Van de Beek’s salary to be paid in full until June to let him go. There is no purchase option (only loan),” said Romano.
Moving to Crystal Palace will probably get Van de Beek playing minutes. Patrick Vieira, the manager, really wanted it. However, there has been no final decision taken by United.
