Since the start of the coronavirus epidemic, many have wondered if certain blood groups are more affected by Covid-19 than others. You should know that none of them is spared the virus but it is true that group O patients would have a lower risk to be contaminated.
It’s a Chinese study performed on more than 2,000 patients who advances his observation. This phenomenon could be explained by the presence of antibodies providing protection against Covid-19 and which are absent in people of group A and AB.
According to this study, people in group O would have 33% less risk of being infected with the new coronavirus than people in groups A and AB. However, it should be noted that other studies will be carried out on the subject to certify that group O is less sensitive than the others to the global pandemic.
