There is outrage on social media about the desire for a gender-neutral upbringing that Famke Louise made known earlier. Famke said during the gender reveal party in documentary Famke & Denzel: A New Beginning: “A real man makes a man, eh.”

On Instagram, she also used blue hearts in the announcement post about her expected son. This was followed by surprise in the responses. “Why raise gender neutral when you already say ‘It’s a boy’?” someone responded. Another wrote: “Your gender is different from gender. They are probably not going to deny the gender, but just give him all the freedom.”

So what exactly does gender neutral parenting mean? According to the Center for Youth and Family Leiden, it is important that you push your child as little as possible into a ‘girl or boy’s box’. “You may think that everything should be neutral, but that is not the case,” they explain. For example, it is advised to give your child a wide range of toys. In this way the child can decide for himself what is the most fun and find out where any talents lie.
