Disastrous New Year’s Party at “New Boyana” Film Studio in Sofia: Thousands Left Disappointed and Unsafe

Thousands of people welcomed the year 2024 in queues, queuing to enter the “New Boyana” film studio in Sofia, where a large-scale New Year’s party was organized. The ambitious idea of a first-of-its-kind party of such scales turned into a complete absurdity, reported 24 hours.

A total of 12,000 people – each with a ticket worth over BGN 100 – had to enter the film studio before midnight to welcome the holiday with a spectacular light show, and then enjoy various genres of music.

However, the mass discontent started already on the way to the film studio, to which there was an organized bus transport. They wrote on social networks that every bus was overcrowded to the point that people fainted due to lack of air. “There was no one who was responsible for how many people got on the particular bus,” eyewitnesses say.

According to those present at the New Year’s celebration, there were no emergency teams. Because of the huge crowds, there have been isolated cases of people panicking because they didn’t feel safe.

However, the absurdity of the people of Sofia does not end with the arrival in front of the film studio. There, crowds of people lined up for hours to be able to enter with tickets reaching over 200 BGN. On average, it took a person about 40 minutes to enter “New Boyana”.

“You pay BGN 160 to welcome the New Year in line and ride in a crowded city. We didn’t even manage to get into the halls because of so many people,” the victims take stock. Some even talk about situations that posed a risk to visitors’ lives.
