After more than 6 months of restrictions, terraces, non-essential shops but also cinemas reopen this Wednesday, May 19. This is a first easing before a second within 15 days. From Mâcon to Sens, from the Nièvre to the Côte d’Or, it is partly the return to a normal life.

The first symbol of this deconfinement, the reopening of the terraces! Cafés, bars and restaurants remain closed indoors. A gauge is set at 50% outdoors. But it is a first breath of fresh air for consumers and for professionals deprived of activity since October 2020.
Among the first customers, Laury and Ketty came to have a coffee on the terrace at Place du Bareuzai in Dijon. Due to the confinement, the two colleagues had not seen each other for a month. And this coffee has a particular taste. “There is the spirit of conviviality. We hope that the good weather will return. But we missed it. Really. It’s typically French. We were brought up like that” Laury smiles.
This Wednesday morning, it is not yet the crowd of great days. But René, waiter at the bar restaurant “Au Moulin” does not hide his good humor. “Of course, it’s a relief. We were waiting. I hope there will be more!”. The large terrace of the café is far from being full for the time being. “I hope the weather is good. But I don’t know how it will play out” confit-il.

Place the terraces
A little further, Place de la Liberation, the BHV opened at 7 am, a little earlier than usual. “For the moment it’s mixed, recognizes Florent, one of the waiters. But we feel that people are happy to see us. We know that people have a lot of expectations. We will be there to meet their expectations. with much pleasure.” The young man smiles to go back to work. “We are pretty happy and we hope that this is the last closure we are going through. We are leaving with lots of good will and the desire to move forward.” The only uncertainty this Wednesday, the weather, even if a ray of sunshine briefly illuminates the place. “It is the thing that we cannot control and that we will endure anyway. But overall, if it continues like this morning, we’re hot and the customers will be hot too I think.”
In Yonne, professionals are also close to the image of the chef of the well-named restaurant “La Renaissance” in Auxerre. “The chef has not lost his hand! We are very happy to see you again from 8 am, for the coffees” announces the establishment.
Place the terraces
The return to completely normal life is not yet for now. On the terrace, customers must have a seat and cannot stand. A table cannot accommodate more than 6 people and they must arrive together or have booked together according to the decree which sets the conditions for this reduction.
In Auxonne in the Côte d’Or, the town wants to promote the deployment of terraces in the city center. The parking spaces are transformed into terraces and the speed will be reduced to 10 km / h in the city center for “at least 3 weeks”.
This May 19, the curfew is also postponed to 9 p.m. against 7 p.m. so far.
Non-essential businesses reopen
Another novelty this Wednesday, the reopening of non-essential shops and shopping centers. 150,000 stores are reopening across France.
In Yonne, the prefecture has also authorized work on Sunday for the next 3 Sundays. A decree published this Tuesday, May 18 authorizes an exemption from the Sunday rest until Sunday June 4 for retail businesses.
The return to cinema
Another symbol of this third deconfinement, the easing of the restrictive measures weighing on the culture sector. Cinemas, theaters, but also museums are reopening their doors.
