Devastation on A2 after collision with van on truck full of cream, lane closed

The driver of a delivery van was seriously injured on Friday night after his delivery van collided with a truck on the A2 near Den Bosch. The accident happened around a quarter to one, on the parallel carriageway towards Eindhoven. Due to the seriousness of the situation, in addition to the fire brigade and an ambulance, an air ambulance also came to the A2.

The driver of the van was trapped in the van after the collision and was released by the fire brigade. The man, a 34-year-old from Eindhoven, was then taken to a hospital in Tilburg. The trauma doctor went with him.

How the collision could have happened is under investigation.

Room
The truck that the driver of the van collided with was said to be carrying about 33 tons of cream. “The truck driver had just filled his truck in Veghel at the time of the accident,” says the 112 correspondent.

The tank with cream – with a value of about 80,000 euros – emptied completely over the road, over a length of two hundred meters due to the impact.

Some of the cream ended up on the verge, on the slope and possibly also in the nearby ditch. Research should show how much cream ended up outside the road. According to the 112 correspondent, that ground would have to be excavated later.

Lane closure
Due to the necessary clean-up work, the parallel carriageway of the A2 southbound was closed until a quarter to seven on Saturday morning. Until then, traffic was diverted at the Veghel exit via the U20. At the moment, only the right-hand lane of the A2 from Veghel to Sint-Michielsgestel is still closed.
