Details of the death of actor Sergei Kunitsky became known

Sergey Bezrukov about his favorite artist: “I managed to present him with our provincial Oscar”

The Provincial Theater has lost its leading actor Sergei Kunitsky. He was only 35. He worked hard, received his first award in his life, made plans, was going to get married. But now nothing of this is destined to come true.

As it turns out, the young artist died in the city of Temryuk, Krasnodar Territory, where he went on vacation. Farewell to him will take place on Saturday in the same place, in the Central City Hospital. But they will bury him in his hometown – Odessa, as his parents decided. Since air traffic with Ukraine has not yet been resumed, there were difficulties with transporting the body. The Provincial Theater helped.

Sergei Kunitskiy, had he lived longer, no doubt would have become a famous actor. This bright, highly characteristic Odessa citizen was considered one of the best in Gubernskoye, he managed to star in 28 films and TV series (the most famous of them are “Battle for Sevastopol”, “Pregnancy Test”, “We are from the Future”). He was successful in dubbing. After moving from St. Petersburg to Moscow, he began working in the theater under the direction of Sergei Bezrukov.

“I have known Sergei for a long time,” says Bezrukov, “several years ago we played together in the St. Petersburg entreprise play“ Cyrano de Bergerac ”. Then he moved from St. Petersburg to Moscow, and when I began to create Gubernsky, I invited him to the troupe. He came and somehow quickly joined the team. I love Odessa very much, I have many friends there, and I was proud that there is a real Odessa citizen in my troupe – Seryozha Kunitsky.

He played wonderful roles, was the best performer of the role of Petya Trofimov in my version of The Cherry Orchard. I came up with such a future revolutionary with him … especially since we now know a lot about revolutionaries. And in “Krechinsky’s Wedding” he played. High-class professional, improviser, light-hearted.

His sudden death is a shock and shock for all of us: 35 years is about nothing, he never lived at all. I managed to award him with our Golden Mukhin award – our Provincial Oscar: I presented him with a statuette imitating an Oscar on January 13, when we celebrated the Old New Year with the whole theater. I’m glad I marked him and saw how happy he was.

When eminent and venerable people leave, it is bitter. And when very young people leave, who could still do a lot, you stand confused and do not know what to say. It becomes completely bitter and sad when you think how much more he could have played, because he is talented, one of the best, one of the leaders of the theater.
