Speaking at the event, Pham Binh Minh briefed attendees on the country’s development process over the past seven decades and his outstanding contributions since becoming the 149th member of the United Nations on September 20, 1977.

He stressed that the similarity of important values ​​and principles created the basis for cooperation and partnership between Vietnam and the UN. The values ​​that the UN has promoted are also the values ​​that generations of Vietnamese have fought and sacrificed to protect: peace, national independence and justice, Pham Binh Minh stressed.

Amid the international uncertainties, the Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister once again reiterated the essential role of international solidarity and multilateralism, with the UN at the center. He also affirmed Vietnam’s strong support and commitment to the role of the United Nations in leading and coordinating multilateral efforts to address global challenges.

Pham Binh Minh expressed the hope that international friends will support Vietnam’s candidacy to the UN Human Rights Council for the period 2023-2025 so that it can contribute more to the UN mission to guarantee and promote human rights.

United Nations leaders and country representatives have expressed their impressions on the successes of the Vietnamese people over the past 77 years, from the struggle for national liberation and reunification to the socio-economic development of recent years.
