DEPARTMENT: “A new page is opening for the Côte-d’Or”, according to François Sauvadet

From his first speech as president reelected for the next seven years, François Sauvadet was keen to consolidate the place of the Department as a major local community, by affirming that he wanted to go further in his commitments.

It was naturally under the applause of the departmental assembly that François Sauvadet took up his position as president of the departmental council of Côte-d’Or.

His first words as “new” president, for a third term, gave him the opportunity to thank all the voters of Côte-d’Or who came, as well as the members of his majority for having reassured him in his status.
This, however, does not fail to regret that “the State has not even been able to simply distribute the professions of faith and the ballot papers. It is all the same the minimum of what one should expect from a rule of law ”.

“We will be there, present everywhere”

He then expressed himself as “president of all the Côte-d’Oriens, because there is no Dijon on one side and the rest of the Department on the other”.

“We will be there, present everywhere, to ensure our missions of solidarity with regard to the most fragile”, he declared, evoking “particular vigilance for violence against women and to protect our children”.

By also calling for everyone to clearly assume their skills, François Sauvadet reaffirmed that the Department will leave no one behind, focusing on tailor-made policies to adapt the policies to each life situation.

“The reference community for proximity”

Regarding the future, the chairman of the Department announced the prosecution of aid to communities as “the first public investor” but also “as the reference community for proximity between large regions, far distant, and metropolitan areas, including us. let us see that they cannot answer on their own the challenges before which we are placed ”.

For François Sauvadet, the Department of Côte-d’Or will meet the challenges, “in the face of climate change” also, for sustainable development.

In short, the president promotes a Department at the rendezvous of environmental changes (local circuits, support for farmers) and technological (deployment of fiber, establishment of digital spaces in each former capital of the canton), but also proximity.

“This is a new page that is opening for the Côte-d’Or”, launched François Sauvadet, wanting “to give more visibility to the actions of the Department with our fellow citizens” and noting that a sixth commission is created, that of local development and attractiveness. “We want to make the Côte-d’Or the first destination of balance between Paris and Lyon”.

Call for responsibility in debates

“I wish for dignified, responsible debates for the next seven years, in the interest of the Côte-d’Oriens, while putting aside any spirit of chapel and political dogma”, finally wished the president of the Department of Côte-d ‘However, by insisting on the pact of confidence that the elected departmental officials must embody vis-à-vis the citizens.

François Sauvadet’s last words in his introductory speech were for “those who have served our Department for the past six years”, also expressing thanks to the firefighters and the departmental services.

At the time of the election of the executive, on which the opposition of the “Côte-d’Or Terres d’avenir” group abstained, François-Xavier Dugourd was appointed deputy vice-president. The former first vice-president in the previous term thus remains one of the main leaders of the group of the departmental majority, chaired by François Sauvadet himself as founder of the movement La Côte-d’Or Passionnément. Claiming to be “various right”, François Sauvadet reported on the sidelines of the session no longer being a member of the UDI.

The first departmental vice-presidency goes to Emmanuelle Coint. François Sauvadet explained this choice: “I wanted to send the signal to have a first vice-presidency occupied by a woman, and that this one be president of the commission of social affairs (now Solidarity commission), without there being have a feeling of downgrading from anyone ”.
