MOSCOWUnited States of America (The US) concluded its 20-year military campaign in Afghanistan this week, which resulted in more than 46,000 civilian deaths from all sides.

Ironically, the end of the military intervention was the takeover of power by the Taliban on August 15. US troops and Western alliances came out of Afghanistan in a panic and humiliation.

Russian President Vladimir Putin called the situation in Afghanistan after the withdrawal of Western troops a “catastrophe”. He stressed that democracy cannot be forced by force.
