KPK Names Banjarnegara Regent Budhi Sarwono Suspect

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has appointed the Regent of Banjarnegara, Central Java, Budhi Sarwono as a suspect in the alleged corruption case related to the procurement of goods and services in the Banjarnegara Regency Government for the 2017-2018 fiscal year.

“After the KPK conducted an investigation, we found sufficient preliminary evidence and we escalated it to an investigation. The results of the hard work identified two suspects,” said KPK Chairman Firli Bahuri at a press conference at his office, Jakarta, Friday (3/8).

Apart from him, the anti-corruption agency has also named a private party as well as the regent’s confidant, Kedy Afandi (KA), as a suspect. KA is also the regent’s success team in the 2017 regional head election.

“For the purposes of the investigation, the two suspects were detained for the first 20 days starting today, September 3, 2021, until September 22, 2021,” said Firli.

Budhi is being held at the KPK State Detention Center (Rutan) Lot C1, while KA is being held at the Pomdam Jaya Guntur KPK Rutan.

The two suspects are suspected of violating Article 12 letter i and Article 12 B of the Corruption Eradication Act (Tipikor) in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph 1 1 of the Criminal Code.

In the process of handling this matter, the anti -corruption board’s investigation team has searched the regent’s office house. From the forced effort, various items of evidence were secured, including documents related to the case.
