Riots broke out on April 11 the day after the death of a 19-year-old man in a chase with vehicles from the Brussels-South police zone.

THEEleven suspects, most of them minors, have been arrested in recent days as part of the investigation into the riots that took place last April in Anderlecht, the Brussels prosecutor’s office said on Saturday.
During these disturbances, a police officer’s weapon was stolen following a violent attack on a police vehicle. Meanwhile, the weapon was found and the robber placed under arrest warrant. An investigation was immediately opened by the Brussels public prosecutor’s office.

The Youth and Local Search service of the Midi police area were able to identify several suspects. Eleven have been arrested in recent days, said the prosecution.
Several young people prosecuted
A minor suspect, living in Hal was placed at the disposal of the parquet of Hal-Vilvorde. The other 10 (aged between 14 and 18) were taken over by the Brussels public prosecutor’s office. Five of them have been placed in the IPPJ, two have been released but are subject to very strict conditions, one will be summoned to appear before the youth judge, another has been acquitted with a follow-up and the last one has been released after hearing by the Crown Prosecutor.
The preventions adopted against these young people are in particular theft, committed with the help of violence or threats, in gangs; damage to the movable property of others, with violence or threats, in gangs; armed rebellion; conspiracy.
The investigation continues and it is not excluded that other arrests will take place in the coming days, concludes the prosecution.
