David Beckham has admitted several times in recent years that he suffers from obsessive-compulsive disorder, known as OCD.

The legend of English football and current co-owner of the American Inter (Miami) is painfully frank that it is difficult for him, but he is doing it.

Before we move on to the revelations of the Manchester United giant born on May 2, 1975, let’s clarify what the obsessive-compulsive disorder in question is.

It is characterized by the presence of recurrent intrusive thoughts, fears, obsessions, and actions, the meaninglessness or unreality of which the person is aware of, but is nevertheless unable to control.
The anxiety and nervousness arising from these thoughts leads to an urgent need to perform certain rituals or compulsions. They are performed in an attempt to prevent or eliminate intrusive thoughts. Although the ritual may temporarily reduce anxiety, one performs it again when the thoughts in question “come back.”

This cycle of OCD can progress and last for hours, significantly disrupting normal daily activities.

Experts identify the following as the most common intrusive thoughts and fears:

fear of contamination or germ contamination;

fear of causing harm to another person;

fear of making a mistake;

fear of embarrassing and embarrassing situations or socially unacceptable behavior;

fear of bad or sinful thoughts;

a desire for order, symmetry, or accuracy;

excessive sense of doubt and need for constant reassurance.

Compulsions are mainly related to:

repeated bathing, showering or hand washing;

refusing to shake hands or touch door handles;

multiple checks – for example, is the door locked, is the stove turned off;

continuous counting, mentally or aloud, when performing routine tasks;

permanent arrangement in a certain way;

eating foods in a certain order;

repeating specific words, phrases or prayers;

performing tasks a certain number of times.

Now back to Beckham

Ever since he was a youngster at Manchester United, he has been addicted to rearranging hotel rooms and lining up cases of soft drinks to make everything perfect on match day and score at least one goal.

David Beckham admits he tried to break his cycle of repetitive behavior many times, but couldn’t stop. He went to dozens of doctors, spent a lot of money on examinations and medicines, but…

“I realize it’s hell sometimes,” added the Englishman, who was brilliant at scoring goals from free-kicks and delivering jeweled passes.

“For me, everything has to be lined up in a straight line or everything has to be in pairs. There must be a pair of non-alcoholic cans in the fridge. Fresh milk – also. Whatever is in there should not be an odd number.

In a hotel room, before I can relax, I have to move my luggage into an even number of drawers. The magazines and newspapers I buy should be an even number. Then I arrange them alphabetically according to their names. My clothes should be folded as needed. If there are little creases, I squish them and start folding them over and over,” Beckham claims.

He believes that if he doesn’t, the next day his team – be it United, Real Madrid or anyone else – won’t win.

Beckham admits he’s also addicted to tattoos, partly because he enjoys the.. pain. However, the tattoos also have a certain number of individual parts of David’s body. This is not an ordinary rule with him, but a firm and unshakable law.

The former England captain says his wife Victoria calls him a “freak” because of his condition.

Newspapers enjoyed stories of Beckham’s eccentric behavior, reporting that he wore white clothes to match his furniture. David buys 30 pairs of identical Calvin Klein underpants every two weeks and insists on sorting his shirts by color, starting with the darkest and working his way up to the lighter shades. Sometimes it takes him too long to do it.

He believes that the even arrangement of any objects helps him, even though he played with #7 on the field for many years. However, David still specifies that he was born on the second number.

Mrs. Victoria Beckham, who has previously revealed her husband’s secrets, lifts the curtain on the hot topic:
“David has that obsessive-compulsive disorder where everything has to match. If you open our refrigerator, you will see that everything is coordinated on both sides. We have three refrigerators at his insistence – in one we keep the main food, in another – salads and desserts, and in the third – drinks. Everything is symmetrical in the drinks one. If there are three boxes, it will discard one because it must be an even number. It is categorical! He wanted four refrigerators, but in this case at least I managed to dissuade him. But for the rest, no one can. Even himself.”

Beckham adds that his Real Madrid teammates were unaware of his condition. However, those at Manchester United previously revealed it. The Zevzeks deliberately rearranged his clothes in hotel rooms or moved magazines to make them “crazy” and to drive him crazy.

The former captain of the English national team also spoke about his illness in a Netflix documentary, which began shooting a year and a half ago and ended in April this year. Western media claim that Beckham agreed to talk about his private life for several million dollars. Different figures are being combined – 12, 16, 20 million…

David details how living with his “exhausting” OCD means he spends hours cleaning and organizing his home while the rest of his family are in bed.

“When everyone is asleep, I get up very early and start walking around the house. I clean and wash everything – glasses, plates, bowls, floors, dust. Wall lamps should be tilted in the same direction. I trim the wick of the candle, clean the glass of the lamp around it, because it drives me crazy – the smoke that forms between the candle and the glass. When Victoria and the children wake up, everything is glowing. We don’t need maids and cleaners. I don’t know if she appreciates all this. Turns out OCD has its upsides,’ he jokes.

An important clarification here: The Beckhams live in a £25 million mansion in Holland Park, London, which they bought in 2013. It has eight bathrooms, seven bedrooms, two kitchens, four living rooms, and a gym and spa. Separately, they also recently bought a condo in Miami for $24 million.

Does David have the strength to clean it all up?!

When asked if he kisses his wife Victoria an even number of times, David just waves his hand with his radiant smile…
