Data: The Czechia has the most infected children of all EU countries

The Czech Republic registers almost three thousand new positive tests on children under the age of 15 on a fortnightly average per 100,000 people, according to data from the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control. There are also a high number of infected children in Slovenia (2,810) and Austria (2,706).

The number of newly detected cases is also affected by the level of testing. The Czechia is currently the sixth most testing country in the European Union. According to the data from the Our World in Data server, 10.4 tests are reported in the Czech Republic when recalculated per thousand inhabitants.

Another round of testing of pupils in schools took place in the Czech Republic on Monday. During November, it was divided into five stages. From next Monday will then be tested regularly every first day of a new teacher’s week.

The most affected countries: Slovakia, the Czechia and Belgium

The disease is currently spreading mainly in countries with lower vaccination coverage. Slovakia has less than 43 percent of the population with vaccinations. In the Czech Republic, as the second country with the highest number of newly confirmed increments on a seven-day average per million inhabitants, almost 60 percent have a complete vaccination.

Exceptions from the more affected European countries are Belgium and the Netherlands, where almost 75 percent of people have completed vaccinations.

Vaccination registration for the youngest

In the Czech Republic, according to statistics from the Ministry of Health, more than 36 percent of children aged 12 to 15 have completed vaccinations. They can be vaccinated from the beginning of July.

Registration for children aged five to 11 should start on 13 December. This was announced on Monday by the resigned Minister of Health Adam Vojtěch (for YES). The European Medicines Agency (EMA) recommended the administration of the vaccine from Pfizer / BioNTech during November.

Children in this age group should receive one third of the recommended dose for adolescents and adults. The EMA said the effectiveness of the vaccine was evidenced by clinical studies conducted by the manufacturer on nearly 2,000 volunteers.

“The benefits (vaccines) of Comirnaty outweigh the risks for children aged five to 11, especially those whose condition increases the risk of severe covid-19,” the EU regulator said.
