Court of Auditors gives green light to the first contract for the expansion of Metro de Lisboa to Santos – Executive Digest

The contract for the first construction contract for the “Lote 1: Execution of the rough between the end of Estação Rato and Estação Santos” of Metropolitano de Lisboa received a favorable prior visa from the Court of Auditors. The work is part of the metro network expansion plan in the Portuguese capital, which involves the extension of the Yellow and Green Lines (Rato – Cais do Sodré).

“With this decision, the contract signed on 6 May with ZAGOPE – Construção e Engenharia, SA, with a global execution period of 960 days, begins its term”, advances Metro de Lisboa in a statement, adding that the contract amounts to 48,624,000 euros, plus VAT at the legal rate in force.

“Lot 2 – Execution of cracks between the Santos Station and the end of the Cais do Sodré Station”, in turn, is still subject to an international public tender. According to the company, there are already proposals submitted, which are currently being analyzed and evaluated by the jury of the procedure.

Lot 3 is still to be advanced, relating to the construction of two new viaducts on Rua Cipriano Dourado and on Av. Padre Cruz, in the Campo Grande area. In this case, the project also foresees the expansion of the Campo Grande station to Nascente and the tender is already taking place. The submission of proposals is scheduled for 21 August.

“The Metropolitano de Lisboa Expansion Plan aims to contribute to improving mobility in the city of Lisbon, promoting accessibility and connectivity in public transport, promoting the reduction of travel times, decarbonization and sustainable mobility”, explains the Lisbon Metro. The total investment planned for this expansion phase is 210.2 million euros.

The project is co-financed by 127.2 million euros by the Environmental Fund and by 83 million euros by the Cohesion Fund, through POSEUR – Operational Program for Sustainability and Efficiency in the Use of Resources.
