Couple attacks bank in Linz and threatens with bomb – Upper Austria

A Sparkassen branch in Unionstrasse was attacked on Friday morning. Both perpetrators were caught quickly.

At 11.40 a.m., a man and a companion stormed into the Sparkasse branch on Unionstrasse. The main culprit was masked with a mouth-nose guard and glasses. He held a silver pistol in his hand.

The duo threatened three employees still present in the bank and demanded cash. According to the police, the man threatened to blow up the bank with a bomb if he received no money. He also left an item in the store.

The perpetrator handed over the booty to his accomplice according to the current state of knowledge. The suspect, a blonde woman, was caught a few moments later.

The main culprit was initially able to escape. But he didn’t get very far either. In the nearby Landwiedstrasse, the handcuffs clicked for him too.

The police assume that the bomb is a dummy. But the officials are playing it safe. “The experts from Vienna were requested. The bank is currently empty and blocked,” said LKA investigator Günter Schwaiger “Today”.

It was the fourth bank robbery this year in Upper Austria.
