Cortina, 7 February 2021 – The curtain rises on the great spectacle of Alpine World Ski Championships a cortina d’Ampezzo. From 8 to 21 February, the Italian slopes host the best skiers in the world, on the hunt for the world title which represents the main objective of 2021 in anticipation of the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics. Today the review started with the opening ceremony, while on Cortina in the last few hours, a heavy snowfall has fallen which forced the organizers to reverse the program of the combined female of tomorrow. The 46th edition of the World Championships was officially opened just before 7pm. The president of the Fisi, Flavio Roda, kicked off in the name of the President of the International Ski Federation, Gianfranco Kasper. The ceremony, which began in the rain, ends in the snow.

The calendar
As mentioned, it will be a busy schedule with 12 races in 14 days. The first week of competition will be dedicated to fast and combined tests, the second to parallel, single and team, and technical disciplines. It starts on Monday 8 February with the women’s alpine combined, the first of three days of competition with the two superg on Tuesday and the men’s combined on Wednesday. A two-day break follows, then the two descents on Saturday and Sunday. The second week begins on Tuesday 16 with the single male and female parallel, on Wednesday the team one, perhaps the two less important races of the review, then off to the technical tests with the women’s giant on Thursday 18, a fundamental appointment for the Italian delegation, and the men one. Friday 19. The festival closes on Saturday with the women’s slalom and on Sunday the men’s one.
TV schedules
The entire review will be broadcast live both in clear and paid. On state TV all the races live with pre and post-race studies with 150 hours total live between Rai 2 and Raisport Hd (channel 57). The men’s commentary will be entrusted to Labate e Blardone, the female ones a Cattaneo and Ceccarelli. Full coverage fee of Eurosport on channels 210 and 211, with reporters Filicic e Varettoni for male trials, Bonzi and Merighetti for the female ones. As for streaming, the World Cup will be visible on Raiplay, Eurosport Player and Dazn.
