Coronavirus in Peru | Ministry of Health reports 27,245 deaths and more than 576,000 cases of COVID-19

He Ministry of Health (Minsa) reported this Friday that, so far, the number of deaths from the new coronavirus is 27 245 nationwide. This represents an increase of 211 deaths compared to the day before.

As of August 21, 2020, 2,915,372 discard tests have been processed for the COVID-19, obtaining, until 00:00 hours, 576,067 positive results and 2 339 305 negatives.

He increase in positive cases compared to the previous report is 9,008. This, explains the Minsa, because 4,295 were confirmed cases of August 20 and 4,713 are results of the previous days, which together give that total.

To date, there are 13,773 hospitalized patients, of which 1 530 are in ICU with mechanical ventilation.

He Minsa also reported that, of the total positive cases, to date 384 908 people completed their period of home isolation or were discharged of a health facility.

In order to avoid spread of COVID-19, the Government recommends physical distancing of at least one meter from another person, wearing a mask and washing hands frequently.
