The novel corona virus keeps the whole world in suspense. But Thailand is now reporting success in treatment. A drug cocktail apparently made a breakthrough.
With 19 confirmed cases, Thailand is the country with the most corona patients after Japan. The Bamrasnaradura Institute for Infectious Diseases in Nonthaburi outside of Bangkok becomes feverish (see slideshow below) and other institutions around the world researching a cure.
The Thai doctors now want to make a breakthrough. Authorities reported successful treatment of the deadly virus on Sunday. The happy patient had been given a cocktail of flu and HIV medication. This is reported by the AFP news agency, citing official bodies.
The new treatment is said to have significantly improved the condition of an infected woman from China, as the “Bangkok Post” reports. The drug combination is now to be tested further in the laboratory. So much for the good news.
The bad news: Chinese researchers found a new way of infection with 2019-nCoV from person to person. The virus was also detected in stool samples from patients. Droplet infection has been the main mode of transmission of the lung disease from China since the outbreak of the novel corona virus.
