Cambodia

If you want to enter Cambodia, you have to bring a valid Cambodian passport or visa as well as a deposit of several thousand US dollars. A corona test is also mandatory. If the result is negative, the majority of the deposit made will be refunded to those entering the country. If the result is positive, the deposit will be used for possible treatment, according to the Cambodian Ministry of Economic Affairs and Finance.
But even if your own test is negative, that does not mean that you are off the hook. Because if only one person is positive about that Coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 tested, all travelers on the same flight are required to be quarantined in a state facility.

In view of the rising number of infections, many countries reacted with curfews in addition to quarantine regulations, especially during the first wave in spring 2020. However, some states regulated this in a very special way:

Turkey

In the country on the Bosporus, for example, there was a strict curfew for everyone during the week People under 20 years of age and over 65 years. All other generations had to stay at home on the weekends. While the Turkish government had lifted the curfew for under 20-year-olds in the first half of the year, the temporary curfew for seniors has currently been reintroduced by many provinces. In addition, there are strict access restrictions in many areas of public life, such as in local public transport and in supermarkets People over 65 years of age.

Sweden

Sweden also put on curfews during the first wave of pandemics. In the land of Köttbullar and Astrid Lindgren, seniors over 70 years of age were temporarily not allowed to leave their home because they were Corona-Risk group counting.

Peru, Panama and Colombia

In Latin America, many countries also put on temporary curfews. Unlike in Turkey and Sweden, however, these were not imposed according to generations, but according to gender. In Peru, men were only allowed to leave the house on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. On Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, however, it was the women’s turn. In this way, all officers should be able to quickly identify who was illegally outside.

The same rule applied in Panama. There, however, the weaknesses of this regulation became visible: For example, a transgender woman was punished for disregarding the exit regulation because her birth gender (male) was still noted in her passport and she was therefore considered a man.

On Sundays, however, gender equality applies. Except for the doctors, everyone had to stay at home that day anyway.

When it comes to strange rules and penalties, however, another country is the undisputed number 1 on the list:

Indonesia

The Southeast Asian country, usually best known for its jungle forests and surf spots, is making headlines in the ongoing corona pandemic, especially with bizarre punishments. During the first major pandemic wave in spring, mask refusers were forced to repent in public, for example by cleaning toilets or reciting verses from the Koran. In this way, “offenders” were exposed to public humiliation, which was intended to act as a deterrent. But Indonesia is currently (again) relying on deterrence. Citizens who are caught by the police without a mouth and nose covering can choose to “try lying” in an open coffin as an alternative to a heavy fine. Videos of the action are currently spreading rapidly on the Internet and are a source of scorn and ridicule for those punished.
