SH: Garg calls for a faster vaccination rate and criticizes the EU
Schleswig-Holstein’s Minister of Health Heiner Garg has urged a faster vaccination rate in Germany. The federal government should do “everything humanly possible” to make people a vaccination offer until the summer vacation, said the FDP politician of the “world”. “People’s patience is already overworked.” Garg accused Chancellor Angela Merkel and EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen (both CDU) of not having “exhausted all possibilities” to order sufficient vaccine for Europe last summer. Instead of leaving the vaccine order to the vaccine alliance with other European countries already forged by Health Minister Jens Spahn (CDU), the EU, led by von der Leyens and Merkels, took over the procedure. “If that hadn’t happened, we would probably be in a better position today,” the minister said.

According to dpa information, 345,000 vaccination doses are expected in Germany on Saturday, 391,000 a week later and one million vaccination doses on February 19. At the beginning of March it should be another 1.5 million cans. How to deal with the delivery quantities in March should be decided at a switching conference of the health minister on February 22nd, Spahn continues. “The appointment for the second vaccination after nine to twelve weeks should of course be made now as a precaution.”

Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: State government advises on high-risk areas
Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania’s state government is holding a video conference this morning to discuss regulations for so-called corona high-risk areas in the state. Vorpommern-Greifswald and the Mecklenburg Lake District had revoked the stricter corona rules. This included exit restrictions. The numbers of corona infections are particularly high in the two districts, which previously resulted in stricter measures. Last week, however, the Greifswald administrative court granted objections to stricter corona requirements in the Vorpommern-Greifswald district.
