Corona news: schools open or closed? Counties and cities should decide

Thuringia | Around 70 general practitioners’ practices are involved in the “Corona vaccination” pilot project

Up to 70 general practitioners’ practices in Thuringia will take part in the “Corona vaccination” pilot project. According to the Thuringian Ministry of Health, the start is planned for the twelfth calendar week. Annette Rommel, chairwoman of the Thuringian Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians, said the vaccine would be delivered in the coming week. The general practitioners then contacted their patients directly. Not all 70 general practitioners should be there from the start. How exactly the staggering will be will be announced.

Haubinda | Hermann-Lietz-Schule buys 2,000 self-tests for pupils

The Hermann Lietz School in Haubinda in the Hildburghausen district has bought 2,000 corona self-tests for the students. As headmaster Burkard Werner MDR THÜRINGEN confirmed, all 400 pupils should come back to face-to-face classes from Monday. To do this, they would have to take the test at home. The school has spent around 11,000 euros. The 119 boarding school students are tested on site by trained staff. The Hermann Lietz School is a privately owned boarding school. In social networks she called for donations to finance the rapid tests. First the “Free Word” reported.

Thuringia | Vaccination center for south-west Thuringia required

In a joint letter to Prime Minister Bodo Ramelow, three districts in southwest Thuringia and the city of Suhl have requested a vaccination center for the region as soon as possible. A vaccination center should not be set up in southwest Thuringia until mid-April, while in other regions vaccination will be carried out on a large scale weeks beforehand, the letter says. Many old people have to go to Erfurt to have their vaccinations because they don’t get any appointments in their regions. The vaccination center planned in Meiningen must be opened earlier, additional capacities must be created quickly, they say.

The signatories gave a damning testimony to the country’s communication policy – it was “underground”. You miss any support from the country. It could not be that in other federal states free rapid tests have been distributed to the lower health authorities for months, but the state with the highest incidences does not offer any help. Nor can it be that not all nursing homes are vaccinated and groups with the highest risk of serious and fatal courses cannot be protected.

The letter was signed by District Administrator Peggy Greiser (Schmalkalden-Meiningen), District Administrator Thomas Müller (Hildburghausen), District Administrator Reinhard Krebs (Wartburgkreis) and Lord Mayor André Knapp (City of Suhl).

Hildburghausen | Schools open from first to sixth grade

In the Hildburghausen district, schools from the first to the sixth grade open on Monday. As a spokesman for the Hildburghausen District Office said, the lessons then run in the restricted regular operation. Solutions are still being sought for grades seven to nine. A new strategy is currently being drawn up for this. Corona quick tests or self-tests could possibly help.

Thuringia | In the future, municipalities should decide for themselves when schools will be opened

In Thuringia, districts and independent cities are to decide for themselves whether schools will be opened or closed because of the corona incidence. This emerges from a joint letter from the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Education to the districts and independent cities, which MDR THÜRINGEN has received. Accordingly, the previous regulation, according to which schools must be closed with an incidence of 200 or more, is no longer applicable. Now only the recommendation applies: Close if the incidence rises above 150. What is also new is that rules do not always have to be made for an entire district. Instead, more detailed decisions can be made. For example, only students from 5th grade could be sent to home study, or only students in a community. The regulation applies to general and vocational schools.

The districts were informed about these new possibilities on Friday. Now they have to implement them in their general directives. Only then are they valid. There had been a lot of criticism of the previous regulation. For example, the district assembly and the district administrator of the Wartburg district, Reinhard Krebs, demanded more freedom of choice.
