In Schleswig-Holstein, the health authorities reported 420 new corona infections to the state on Thursday (April 22nd). The districts of the Duchy of Lauenburg and Stormarn are above the incidence value of 100.
Nationwide, the seven-day incidence is 73.5. The day before, the value had been 70.8. Schleswig-Holstein is thus still the only federal state with an incidence of less than 100. The number of people in Schleswig-Holstein who have demonstrably been infected with the virus since the beginning of the pandemic increased to 56,664. According to an estimate by the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), around 50,200 people from Schleswig-Holstein have recovered. According to the current State registration office statistics there have been 1,495 deaths so far in connection with the viral disease Covid-19, six more than the previous day.

The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) usually updates its data in the morning, but sometimes not until the afternoon. Due to the delay in reporting, the RKI values usually do not correspond to the infection rate, but are too low. As a second number, we therefore give an estimate of how high the 7-day incidence could be without delay in reporting. This value comes closer to the actual development of the pandemic. The Pinneberg district is also approaching the 100 incidence
In the Duchy of Lauenburg district, the seven-day incidence fell to 106.1 (previous day 109.1). However, it is still the highest incidence value in Schleswig-Holstein. The Stormarn district is officially above the limit of 100: the seven-day incidence rose to 103.2. The value of the Pinneberg district also continues to rise to 99.0 (previous day 98.1).
As of April 22, the lowest incidences in Schleswig-Holstein with values below 50 are in the independent city of Flensburg (33.3) and the districts of North Friesland (39.8) and Schleswig-Flensburg (43.3).
Development of the number of corona cases in Schleswig-Holstein
New Corona regulation valid until May 9th
On April 19, an amended Corona Control Ordinance came into force in Schleswig-Holstein. It is valid until May 9th and enables outdoor catering in districts with a stable incidence value below 100. On Wednesday, the state government announced that new rules for retail will apply in some districts from Monday (April 26th). Customers in Lübeck, Kiel and Neumünster, among others, are allowed to enter the shops again if they leave their contact details.
Vaccinations against the coronavirus
People in Schleswig-Holstein have been vaccinated against the coronavirus since December 27, 2020. The vaccination rate shows what percentage of northern Germans have already received the first of the currently two required vaccinations.
188 corona patients in clinics
188 people who have tested positive for Corona are currently being treated in the country’s hospitals (+1). 56 of the Covid patients are in intensive therapy (-1), 32 patients have to be ventilated (-1).

What these numbers say – and what not
The state government’s statistics show how many confirmed corona infections are known to the authorities in the country and were reported in the intended way. What the statistics cannot clearly show, let alone the current day, is the speed at which the virus is spreading. Because the number of people who have newly tested positive usually also includes post-reported cases from several days. There are delays in the reporting chain, especially around weekends and public holidays.
